Abstract

The Abbasid dynasty was founded in 750 M by Abu Abbas As-Saffah after defeating the Umayyad dynasty. They ruled the Islamic caliphate for almost 500 years. During their reign, the Abbasid dynasty experienced a golden age in various fields such as art, literature, science, and architecture. They also established an effective administrative system and set important standards for trade and finance in the Islamic world. The aim of this research is to examine the development of Islamic education during the Abbasid Dynasty. This writing uses a qualitative method with a library research type of research. The results of this research are that during the Abbasid Dynasty there were significant developments in the world of Islamic education, marked by the birth of leading scientific figures who had a great influence on the world of education, such as the birth of leading figures in the fields of medicine, astronomy, philosophy, tafsir, hadith, jurisprudence and so on, not only that, the birth of figures and accompanied by their famous written works, is also proof of the glory of Islamic education at that time where their works are still used in Islamic education today, one example of which is the work -works from fiqh scholars who became imams of the 4 schools of thought that we know as Imam Syafi'i, Imam Hanafi, Imam Hambali and Imam Malik, and many other figures.
