Toleransi Keragaman Beragama Sebagai Pondasi Ketakwaan

Abstract

Tolerance in Islam was initially marked by the Hudaibiyah agreement initiated by the Prophet Muhammad. Tolerance in Islam is authentic. It means that it is familiar and has even existed since Islam existed. Because of its organic nature, tolerance in Islam is only a matter of implementation and commitment to practice it consistently.  However, religious tolerance according to Islam is not to melt each other in belief. Nor is it to exchange beliefs between different religious groups. Tolerance here is in the sense of mu'amalah (social interaction). So, there are mutual boundaries that may and may not be violated. This is the essence of tolerance where each party controls itself and provides space to respect each other's uniqueness without feeling threatened by their beliefs or rights.This study aims to explain the tolerance of religious diversity as the foundation of piety.This study uses a qualitative approach, and conducts direct observations and interviews in the field.This study found that tolerance is needed in order to create a peaceful and peaceful life.
