EPILEPSI DALAM SUDUT PANDANG KESEHATAN DAN ISLAM

The word epilepsy comes from the Greek Epilambanmein which means to attack. Epilepsy was known around 2000 BC. Hippocrates was the first to recognize epilepsy as a symptom of a disease and believed that epilepsy was a disease caused by abnormalities in the brain.
Epilepsy is a common disease, and if left untreated, seizures increase the risk of injury and death, cognitive and behavioral impairment, and social disadvantage. The short-term goal of epilepsy treatment is to prevent seizures. The principle of treatment for patients newly diagnosed with epilepsy is monotherapy. Most cases of epilepsy are not well controlled with antiepileptic monotherapy (AEO), so combination therapy is the next treatment strategy.
According to historians Syed Wasim Akhtar and Hasan Aziz, the perception of epilepsy in the medieval Islamic world can be seen in three dimensions. The first is the religious point of view. Second, it mentions the treasures of Islamic medicine. And third, the community.
