 A deep understanding of the Islamic religion is an irreplaceable foundation for a professional counselor.  A strong knowledge of Islamic teachings enables counselors to respond wisely to clients' spiritual needs, enriching the counseling process.

 Additionally, the principles of confidentiality and trust play an important role in building strong relationships.  Counselors must carefully guard the privacy of client information, creating a safe atmosphere for talking and sharing.
