Abstract

This paper discusses the concept of man according to Islamic psychology. In Islamic psychology, humans are viewed as beings that have physical, mental and spiritual dimensions. Islamic psychology recognizes the importance of understanding these three dimensions to achieve balance and happiness in life. The concept of human in Islamic psychology also includes the concept of nafs (soul), which consists of nafs ammara (soul that tends to evil), nafs lawwama (soul that always blames itself), and nafs mutmainnah (soul that is calm and satisfied). In addition, this paper also discusses the importance of understanding the concept of man in the context of Islamic education. Humans as living beings who are more perfect creatures when compared to other living beings. Humans are not merely subject to their nature and passively accept their condition, but they are always aware and active in making themselves something. The process of human development is partly determined by his own will, in contrast to other creatures who are completely dependent on nature. The need to continuously become this is what is uniquely human, and it is because of Him that humans can work, used to organize the world for their benefit, so that culture in all its forms arises, which is not found in other creatures.
